The 22nd National Road Yard Sale Festival is set for May 28 to June 1. According to an announcement, the event spans 824 miles from St. Louis to Baltimore, Maryland. Dubbed the Thrill of the Hunt, the festival allows communities along the historic byway to host various events.
Participants can expect to find a wide range of items for sale, including antiques, furniture, housewares and collectibles. Some locations will offer Amish treats. Many residents will hold yard sales, while others will provide vendor space to attract more bargain hunters.
The National Road, now known as U.S. 40, was constructed between 1811 and 1834 to connect to western settlements. It was the first federally funded road in U.S. history. U.S. 40 runs parallel to Interstate 70 and passes through Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
